By 2050 it could be more plastic than fish in our oceans.
Bottles, packaging, fishing nets, bags, handkerchiefs, butts and any other plastic object once it is finished in water breaks into smaller fragments due to erosion and currents. As demonstrated by several experts, these fragments, which can reach microscopic dimensions of less than 5 mm in diameter, are one of the main causes of death from suffocation of many fish and seabirds as they are mistaken for food. Because of this, 115 marine species are at risk, from mammals to amphibians. The accidental ingestion of plastic exchanged for plankton or jellyfish is such a common phenomenon that 52% of sea turtles have already been affected. Fish feed on plastic and man feeds on fish. The effect this will have on our body is not yet clear. Every time a polyester garment is washed, filaments are released by our washing machines, which are microplatic. This microplastic finishes its course in the sea.
Antica Seteria Comasca will never use polyester for its products, which is absolutely not a "cruelty free" yarn.
